Now that the 9cm bedding season has come to a close, we have the chance to look back and reflect on the last 4 months.
It’s been a good season; the weather has been very kind, virtually no frost and not too much rain. This has allowed us to maximise the spring sales. We had lots of help during the season, for the 5th year in a row, we took a student from a local secondary school for a week of work experience, and the student that joined us this year excelled at hanging basket making and thoroughly enjoyed the week that she spent with us.
The nursery is empty of all 9cm spring patio and basket plants, but that doesn’t mean a break!!
We are fully into the autumn planting season now. We will be introducing our newly rebranded ‘Hardy Patio Plus’ range. We have a brand new label design which is absolutely fantastic and all of us at Northwing are looking forward to late summer when the new range will be available for sale.
We’ve spent the last few weeks potting the first of the autumn stock which includes many of the conifers; we have also potted the first batch of mini cyclamen and hardy cyclamen and the first lot of ‘Sunflor’ Dianthus.
This week it will be the turn of the ‘Autumn Asters’ which will give us a chance to use our new labels! There’s also another batch of cyclamen, both miniature and hardy, that will be potted as well.
Then, in a few weeks time we will be starting on the pack pansy and viola so that they will be ready for late summer and early autumn sales.
All set up and ready to go!
Potted up, ready to be laid out
